Performances

Our talented ensemble offers exciting, high-energy educational performances. Through music and dance, people of all ages and abilities can begin to understand West African culture. In Africa, drumming and dancing bring the community together.
It is part of daily life, used to celebrate birth, death, marriage, the harvest and other rights of passage. In Jeh Kulu's performances, we seek to recreate this community experience and foster insight into a different and fascinating culture. Following the African tradition of community involvement, we welcome audiences to join us in dance, music and song.

Residencies and Workshops

One of Jeh Kulu's mainstays has been school residencies and workshops which we've been offering for the past 10 years. We have found that these programs enrich the lives of the many schoolchildren, teachers, and parents who have participated in them. We teach about African culture, music, and dance, getting people up on their feet so they have the opportunity to learn specific dances and rhythms.
Bringing hands-on experiences into the classroom is a great way to share information, impart respect, and open hearts and minds. Residencies and workshops are the perfect way to teach about West African culture and t enhance a child's education.
